For specialty and trade contractors

# A signed T\&M ticket in somebody's truck isn't money yet.

Extra work gets done, the ticket gets signed, and then it waits: for backup, for pricing, for the GC, for someone in the office to chase it. We build the office-side check that keeps it moving until it's billed.

## Where it slips for a contractor

Ticket to change order. The crew does the extra work and gets a signature. The ticket goes in a folder, the photos stay on a phone, and by the time anyone prices it the GC is asking why it's six weeks late. Some get written off because chasing them costs more than they're worth.

Field app to accounting. A payment is recorded in Jobber or Buildertrend and never reaches QuickBooks, or it lands twice. Someone reconciles by hand at month end, or doesn't.

Bid request to submission. An invitation to bid sits in a shared inbox until it's too late to price properly.

Material request to order. A job runs out of material midweek, or the same order goes in twice because two people each thought it was theirs.

Notice deadlines. Some contracts give you a fixed window to give notice of a change. Miss it, and the argument about getting paid gets harder.

One industry survey puts a number on it. In Clearstory's 2025 survey of more than 100 US specialty contractors, 60% said they write down or write off change-order revenue at least occasionally. (Source: Clearstory, [2025 Specialty Contractor Change Order Report](<https://www.clearstory.build/construction-blog/2025-specialty-contractor-change-order-report>), a vendor survey.)

Example arithmetic, not a client result: one $4,000 change order written off a month is $48,000 a year.

## What changes

Every signed ticket has an owner and an age. Missing backup gets flagged while the crew still remembers the job. Change orders that sit too long go to a named person in the office, not to the bottom of a pile. And the field app and the books agree, or someone hears why they don't.

## What we'd build first

Office side only. Your crew keeps the app they already use.

- A change-order tracker that pulls signed tickets from your field software, checks the backup is attached, and escalates anything unpriced or unapproved past an age you set.
- A Jobber or Buildertrend to QuickBooks exception report: every payment or invoice recorded in one and missing or doubled in the other, sent to whoever owns the books.
- A bid-request inbox with an owner and a due date on every invitation, so none expire unread.
- A material request and approval step with one record of what was ordered, by whom, for which job.

Not what we do: a new field app, a dispatch platform, or a replacement for the change-order software you already pay for. We fix the gaps around it.

## How it works

We time the handoff as it runs today and agree the acceptance test first. Then we check what your software already does: Jobber, Buildertrend, Clearstory and QuickBooks may already sync more than your office has switched on, and a setting that fixes it beats a project. When the sync can't do the job, we build only what's missing, send exceptions to a named person, and hand it over with a runbook. Switch it off and your manual process still works. Nothing is deleted, nothing is moved.

GC portals vary. Some allow a connection and some don't, so we check yours before we quote.

## Built and run by us

We don't have contractor case studies to show you yet. What we've built and still run: an access review that checks every Active Directory change against a Jira ticket, which is the same pattern as checking every change order against a signed ticket; onboarding and offboarding automation; monthly restore tests through the Cohesity API; and Compass, a finance app at privatecompass.app. None of it is client work.

## What it costs

The Workflow Fix is $3,500 fixed for one handoff, about 10 business days once access and inputs are ready. A job that's clearly smaller or bigger gets a written quote between $3,000 and $4,500 before you commit. Software and licenses sit outside the price.

Fails the acceptance test we agree in writing? One free in-scope fix of up to 2 hours, then a retest. If it fails again, you choose 10% of the fee back as a partial refund or credit, up to $350.

Is your website the leak instead? The Website Build is up to five pages you own, with the quote form tested to your inbox before launch. [See the Website Build](<https://chrysisnetworks.com/services/website-build>)

Not sure what your field software can already do? The $350 walkthrough is up to five hours with written findings, credited in full if you go ahead.

## Asked and answered

### How can a subcontractor stop losing change orders that never get billed?

Change orders get lost between the signed field ticket and the invoice: missing backup, no price, no follow-up with the GC. Chrysis builds an office-side tracker that gives every signed ticket an owner and an age, flags missing backup, and escalates anything unpriced or unapproved to a named person, as a $3,500 fixed Workflow Fix.

### Can Chrysis fix a Jobber and QuickBooks sync that duplicates or drops payments?

Chrysis first checks whether the native Jobber and QuickBooks integration can be fixed with settings, and says so if it can. When it can't, Chrysis builds an exception report that lists every payment or invoice missing or doubled between the two, sent to whoever owns the books.

### Will our crew have to learn a new app?

No. The work is office-side: Chrysis reads from the field software the crew already uses and adds checks, owners and escalations behind it.

### Will you replace Buildertrend, Jobber or Clearstory?

No. Chrysis fixes the gaps between the systems a contractor already runs and checks native features first; replacing a core system is a different purchase.

### Can you get approvals out of our GC's portal?

It depends on the portal. Some allow an export or a connection and some don't, so Chrysis checks the specific portal before quoting and says plainly when it can't be reached.

## Which tickets are still sitting in a truck?

Tell us where extra work goes after the signature, and which software it touches. Within one business day you'll get a written reply: whether it fits, what a fixed price would cover, and the first thing we'd check.
